Family Around Table

If you are looking to not get sick when getting together with family and friends for the holidays, follow a few simple steps

1. Practice good hygiene:

Wash your hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizer if soap is not available. Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth.

2. Stay home if feeling unwell:

If you or anyone in your household is experiencing any symptoms of illness, it’s best to stay home and avoid spreading any potential infection to others.

3. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces:

Regularly clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as doorknobs, countertops, and light switches.

4. Avoid sharing items:

Minimize sharing of food, drinks, utensils, or any other items that can spread germs. Use disposable plates, cups, and cutlery or provide individual servings to each person.

5. Limit the number of guests:

Keep the gathering small and limited to immediate family members or a small group of close friends. This will help reduce the risk of exposure and ensure better control over the environment.

6. Choose outdoor activities:

Consider hosting outdoor activites (weather permitting of course!) where there is better ventilation and more space for social distancing. Activities like tossing the football, sledding, or taking a walk in a park can be safer alternatives.

7. Maintain social distancing:

Keep a distance of at least 6 feet from others who do not live in your household. Avoid crowded places and gatherings with a large number of people.

8. Wear a mask:

When in close proximity to others, especially indoors, wear a mask to reduce the risk of spreading or contracting the virus.

9. Consider virtual celebrations:

If the risk is still too high or if some family members are more vulnerable to illness, consider hosting hybrid or virtual gatherings using video conferencing platforms.

10. Follow local guidelines and recommendations:

Stay updated with the latest guidelines from local health authorities and follow their recommendations regarding gatherings and social interactions.

Remember, it’s important to prioritize the health and well-being of yourself and others during these times.
